Asteroid mining
Although this article is about 7 years old now, it's still very appropriate. Nothing has changed since the article was written -- near earth asteroids still pose a great danger as well as a great opportunity.

We need to think seriously about how we can go about mining these objects for their raw materials, and what it would take to profitably develop a space mining industry.
